Yvonne Curry received her B.A. in Dance from Brooklyn College/CUNY. She has a Certificate in Performing Arts Administration from Fiorello La Guardia Community College, and her M.A. from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in Performance, Community Organizing, and Aging. While at Gallatin she was the recipient of the Graduate Interdisciplinary Academic Excellence Award, the Siff Award, and Sustainability Grant given toward her artistic thesis production Seen Your Life.
She is a Choreographer and member of the theatrical union Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, SAG-AFTRA, New York Women in Film & Television, and President of the Women in the Arts & Media Coalition.
During fifteen years working internationally in Europe and South America she trained dancers, singers, and actors for television, stage, and theater. She was Tap Instructor/Choreographer for the Ballet of Venevision, channel 4-TV in Caracas, Venezuela and Jazz Instructor/Choreographer at the Leona Laviscount School of Dance, and Antenna 3-TV in Milan, Italy. In Venezuela she also served as Cultural Attache for the American Embassy.
Besides her professional work and teaching at Third Street Music School Settlement Yvonne Curry is a Teaching Artist and has served on the Dance Faculty of the Brooklyn College Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts, the Caribbean Cultural Center Arts-in-Education Department, and the Harlem School of the Arts – Herb Alpert Center. She continues to work as a Master Teacher and performer trained in Ballet, Modern (Graham Technique), Tap, Jazz, and Afro-Caribbean (Dunham Technique). Her work credits include a list of music videos, shows, television credits, international performances, and celebrities that she has worked with and trained nationally as well as overseas.
